O sistema de busca e seguimento por infravermellos (IRST) é un instrumento de detección pasiva que detecta e rastrexa obxectivos en función das características infravermellos dos obxectivos entrantes a baixa altitude. O instrumento non se ve afectado por interferencias electrónicas ou desorde e ten unha forte penetración a través do fume, boa ocultación, alta sensibilidade e pode funcionar todo o día e en todas as condicións climáticas.
